Coastal alfresco tiles

Coastal alfresco floors are about seamless inside-outside flow. Pick a 20mm porcelain paver in warm sand, driftwood-grey, or pale travertine-look, then run the matching 10mm interior tile right up to the threshold so the floor reads continuous through the sliding door. Spec R11 slip for wet shoes and bare feet, and a colour that won't soak up sun. The tile should disappear so the view, the timber pergola, and the planting do the work.

Coastal alfresco — questions

Can I really match my interior tile to outdoor pavers?
Yes — most Marmoré porcelain ranges come in both 10mm interior and 20mm exterior paver formats with identical colour and texture. Spec both at order time and your tiler can run a continuous floor through the sliding doors.
What's the right grout for outdoor pavers?
Outdoor pavers on pedestals don't need grout — they sit on open joints that drain naturally. Laid on a screed bed, use a polymer-modified outdoor grout in a tone-on-tone colour, and seal it annually for AU UV exposure.
Will outdoor tiles fade in AU sun?
Porcelain is unglazed colour-through (or with UV-stable glaze) and won't fade — it's one of the few flooring materials genuinely warranted for direct AU UV. Real timber decking will fade and silver within 18 months; porcelain looks the same in 20 years.
