Marble, herringbone, Haussmann
Parisian bathroom tiles
A Parisian bathroom is built on marble — usually Calacatta or Statuario porcelain in lapped or polished finish, large format on the walls, with a herringbone or chevron mosaic on the floor for that classic Haussmann nod. Pair with brushed brass or polished chrome tapware, a freestanding bath, and one antique mirror. Veining should be confident, not subtle. Choose grey grout to recede the joints and let the marble do the work.

Parisian bathroom — questions
Real marble or marble-look porcelain in a Parisian bathroom?
Porcelain wins on maintenance — no sealing, no etching from cosmetics or acidic cleaners. Modern Calacatta-look porcelain has full-body veining that's near-indistinguishable from real marble. Real Calacatta is still possible but expect to seal every 12 months.
Herringbone or chevron floor mosaic?
Herringbone is more forgiving on irregular rooms and slightly more traditional. Chevron is sharper and more contemporary-Paris. Either way, spec a marble-look porcelain mosaic on mesh sheet; it tiles up the same as flat porcelain but reads like classic Haussmann marquetry.
What grout colour suits Parisian marble?
Soft grey grout (tone-matched to the deepest vein in the marble) lets joints recede so the veining reads continuous. White grout makes the grid pop and breaks the marble illusion; black grout is too modern for the look.
