Travertine look vs real travertine
What's the difference? Real travertine is natural limestone with naturally occurring voids that are filled with grout or resin. Porcelain travertine-look replicates the surface texture and veining digitally — with none of the porosity or maintenance demands.
Which is better for kitchens? Porcelain travertine-look, without hesitation. Natural travertine stains from oil, citrus, and coffee. Porcelain is non-porous and virtually indestructible underfoot.
Can I use it outdoors? Yes — with the 20mm outdoor paver version. These are slip-rated R10 to R11 and suitable for alfresco areas, pool surrounds, and garden paths.
Installation guide
Grout colour. Use warm grey or ivory grout — never bright white. A matching or slightly lighter tone creates the most realistic stone effect.
Rectified edges. All tiles in this range are rectified, allowing a 2–3mm grout joint for a seamless stone look.
Order wastage. Add 10% to your measured area for cuts and breakage. For diagonal or herringbone installation, add 15%.

Travertine tile questions
What is the difference between travertine-look porcelain and natural travertine?
Travertine-look porcelain is a manufactured tile printed and textured to mimic natural travertine. It's non-porous, stain-resistant, scratch-resistant, and never needs sealing. Natural travertine is a real stone — warmer, unique tile-by-tile, develops patina, but porous and requires annual sealing in wet areas.
Where does travertine-look porcelain work best?
Anywhere you want warmth and Mediterranean character without the maintenance — kitchens, bathrooms, open-plan living, alfresco, pool surrounds. The 20mm structured pavers in matching ranges let you run the look from indoor to outdoor seamlessly.
Can I use the same travertine tile indoors and outdoors?
The visual yes, the actual tile no. The same range typically supplies a 10mm honed indoor tile and a 20mm structured outdoor paver — different products, but designed to read identically. Don't use indoor honed tile outdoors — it lacks UV stability and slip rating.
Will travertine-look porcelain look dated in 10 years?
Travertine has been a recognised tile material for 2,000 years and the look is rooted in classical architecture, not a passing trend. Cool grey concrete-look from 2015 reads dated now; warm travertine tones don't. The format and finish you choose matter more than the material in terms of dating.
